Scripts used for Analyzing Data
For my Doctoral Dissertation, I obtained 5000+ daily temperature readings for mice I maintained in semi-natural enclosures to see if reproduction impacted core body temperature as a longitudinal measurement of maternal investment over a 10-month period. This justified my physiological questions about reproduction's effect on ageing. For my fourth chapter, I characterized mutations across senior and middle-aged animals who had and had not reproduced and determined how many of the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) originated from reactive oxygen species (ROS)-mediated transversions or errors during replication. I used bioinformatics to analyze 864 GB of raw sequence data fastq-formatted data using the Alabama Supercomputer.
